Partial wrap FAQ.
What exactly is a partial vehicle wrap?
A partial vehicle wrap is vinyl coverage on 25% to 50% of the vehicle's surface area — most often the hood, doors, rear quarter panels, roof, or a combination. The remaining body panels stay factory paint. From a passing car on the road, a well-designed partial wrap reads almost identical to a full wrap. Up close, the contrast between vinyl and original paint is part of the design language.
How much does a partial vehicle wrap cost in SWFL?
Most partial wrap projects fall between $800 and $2,500. Hood-only or accent stripe jobs start around $800. The most popular hood + doors configuration averages $1,400–$2,100. Larger partials covering roof, hood and rear hatch reach $2,500. Vehicle size matters — partial wraps on box trucks, vans or larger SUVs cost more than sedans. Why pick a partial wrap over a full wrap?
Three reasons: budget (partials are typically 40–60% less than a comparable full wrap), preserving factory paint as a design element (the original color becomes part of the look), and flexibility (easier and cheaper to update or redesign sections later). Full wraps still win when you need a complete color change or maximum visibility — but for branded service vehicles and personal cars, partial is almost always the smarter spend.
Will the partial wrap damage my factory paint?
No — when installed and removed by professionals on factory paint in good condition, partial wraps are paint-safe. The covered sections are actually better protected than the bare paint while the wrap is on. The only caveat: paint that's already chipping, fading or has been repainted with low-quality body shop products may come off with the vinyl. We always inspect the surface during the quote and flag any concerns before printing.
How long does a partial wrap install take?
Most partial wraps are installed in 1 to 2 business days at our shop. The full project timeline from design approval to driving out is 3 to 5 business days — design and material printing happen before install. We don't promise same-day install on partial wraps — proper surface prep and vinyl curing time matters more than rushing the job.
Can you match my paint color for the partial wrap?
Close, but not perfect. Solid factory colors (white, black, basic reds, basic blues) can be matched closely with stock cast vinyl colors. Metallic, pearl and tri-coat paints are almost impossible to match exactly — the paint flakes are physically different from vinyl pigment. We usually recommend embracing the contrast with a complementary or contrasting design rather than trying to invisibly blend.
Do you offer partial wraps for fleets?
Yes — partial wraps are actually the most common fleet configuration we install. Consistent hood + door coverage across a fleet of 5, 10 or 50 vehicles delivers visible brand uniformity at a per-vehicle cost most fleet owners are comfortable with. Volume pricing kicks in at 3+ vehicles. Ask for our industry-specific portfolio when you call.
How long does a partial wrap last in Florida?
Premium cast vinyl from 3M, Avery, HP and Arlon is rated for 5 to 7 years on outdoor vehicle applications in Florida's UV and humidity. Hand washing instead of brush car washes, parking in shade when possible, and avoiding harsh solvents extends life further. Most clients keep their partial wraps in great condition for the full rated lifespan.
