Avery wrap FAQ.
What is the difference between Avery SW900 and 3M 2080?
SW900 and 3M 2080 are both premium cast color-change wrap films. SW900 wins on color saturation, matte finish stain resistance and a deeper Color Flow (chameleon) catalog. 3M 2080 wins on a slightly more forgiving install for first-time wrappers and marginally tighter conformability around deep recesses. For most enthusiast color-change jobs, the choice comes down to which exact color the client wants — there are colors in each catalog the other does not offer. We install both. We are a certified installer for 3M as well, so we can talk you through the trade-offs honestly.
Does Avery come in custom colors?
Yes — Avery Dennison ICS (Innovative Color Solutions) is the custom color-match program. As a certified installer, we can spec a PMS color, paint code or physical sample and have Avery produce a custom film run in roughly 4 to 6 weeks. Minimum order quantities apply for true bespoke colors; for one-vehicle jobs we typically find the closest match in the existing SW900 or MPI catalog first — usually inside 1–2 Pantone steps of the target.
What does the Avery 10-year warranty actually cover?
The Avery SW900 warranty is a 10-year limited warranty covering color stability, adhesive performance and dimensional stability — meaning the film will not significantly fade, lift, or shrink during the coverage period when applied and removed by a certified installer on a properly prepared OEM surface. It does not cover physical damage (rock chips, accidents), neglect, or installs done on non-OEM paint. Vertical surfaces get the full 10-year coverage; horizontal surfaces (hoods, roofs) baking in Florida sun get 5–7 years depending on color. We register every wrap with Avery so the warranty stays valid for the original buyer.
Avery Color Flow (chameleon) — is it stable in Florida sun?
Yes — Color Flow uses iridescent pigment layers cast into the film, not a coating that wears off. It is warrantied alongside the rest of the SW900 line for the same 10-year coverage. In Florida sun specifically, garage-kept vehicles see the color-shift effect stay vibrant for 5–7+ years easily; daily drivers parked outdoors see the same UV-related fade as any premium wrap film — minimal on cast vinyl but slightly more visible on iridescent layers than on solid colors. The popular Color Flow colors (Riptide, Rushing Riptide, Urban Jungle, Atomic Teal) are all in stock or available direct from Avery in 5–10 days.
Can you order any Avery color even if it is not in your in-shop catalog?
Yes — as a certified installer we order direct from Avery Dennison, not through a middleman distributor. If the color exists in the Avery catalog (SW900, MPI, Conform Chrome) we can have it on our bench in 5–10 business days. Custom ICS color match takes 4–6 weeks. If you have a specific SW900 color code (for example SW900-857-O Satin Black, SW900-101-O Gloss Black, SW900-666-X Matte Charcoal Metallic), send it over and we will quote the wrap including film cost on that exact color.
How long does an Avery wrap take to install on a vehicle?
Standard full color-change wraps take 3 to 7 business days in our climate-controlled installation bay. Sedans typically 3–4 days, SUVs 4–5, full-size trucks and vans 5–7. Disassembly (door handles, mirrors, badges, trim) adds time but produces a clean factory-look install. We never promise same-day on a color change — the film needs proper cure time and rushing produces lift around door jambs within months.
What is the price difference between Avery SW900 and economy films?
Material cost difference between SW900 and a budget cast film is typically $400–$900 for a full sedan or SUV wrap and $700–$1,500 for a full-size truck or van. Given the labor difference is zero — same install time either way — the marginal cost of going Avery for the 10-year warranty and the deeper color catalog is typically a small fraction of the total wrap budget. For commercial fleet work, MPI 1006 economy film makes sense when vehicles get replaced every 3–5 years; for enthusiast and resale-conscious color change, SW900 is the standard recommendation.
